Smaller cyclones generate higher centrifugal forces, so they capture more microscopic dust – the dust that contains allergens and bacteria.

In DC50, 19 cyclones work in parallel across two tiers, creating both high centrifugal forces and high airflow. With gravimetric efficiencies of over 99%, they capture more microscopic dust than any other cyclones.

Increased dirt removal – across all floors

The DC50 cleaner head automatically adjusts to different floor types, sealing in suction. And its brush bar contains carbon fibre filaments for gently removing fine dust from hard floors.

Dyson’s most advanced cleaner head technology

The DC50 cleaner head automatically adjusts between carpets and hard floors, sealing in suction. Dyson engineers stripped back the design so that the brush bar has full coverage of the surface it’s cleaning. With an in-line drive motor, there’s no belt to replace. And with carbon fibre filaments, fine dust is removed from hard floors – gently.

Carbon fibre filaments

The brush bars of most vacuums only contain nylon bristles. While these loosen dirt from carpets, they can damage hard floors and delicate surfaces. So, the brush bar has to be switched off, which means that fine dust held to hard floors by static can be left behind.

Dyson brush bars are different. They have a row of anti-static carbon fibre filaments, as well as nylon bristles. The filaments remove the static charge holding the dust to the floor, and allow it to be sucked up into the vacuum. Only the soft carbon fibre filaments come into contact with hard floors because they’re longer than the nylon bristles. So, the brush bar can be left switched on without damaging hard floors, and more fine dust is removed.

DC50 is Dyson’s smallest upright vacuum cleaner, so it’s light to carry and can be stored in small spaces. The technology inside has not simply been ‘shrunk’, but concentrated – every angle and dimension re-engineered.

Rides on a ball – steers easily into difficult places

No more awkward moves – DC50 can be steered with a turn of the wrist. And it’s streamlined for cleaning in difficult places.

Ball™ technology – a dynamic turning circle

Fixed wheels are not designed to turn corners. But a ball can turn on the spot. As the ball’s axis is tilted, its turning circle tightens – allowing full and accurate steering control.

The vacuum’s key components are have been engineered to fit inside the ball itself. This gives the machine a streamlined profile, allowing access to tight spaces and lowering its centre of gravity to make it lighter in the hand.

Removes hair without the tangling

DC50 Animal comes with the Tangle-free Turbine tool, so you can remove dirt and hair from confined spaces – without it tangling around a brush bar.

Counter-rotating heads

When hair wraps around the brush bars of conventional turbine tools, it slows them down or stops them working.

The Tangle-free Turbine tool uses counter-rotating heads with brushes to remove hair and dirt. Because the heads spin in opposing directions, hair doesn’t tangle as it’s picked up – it goes straight into the vacuum, and into the bin.
